Everything’s Cuter With Penguins.

Filed under: Uncategorized — Erika @ 1:00 PM

The special Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Time/Darkness episode that came with my D/P DS Lite actually centers around Piplup. It’s an anime narrative of what might happen when you get Piplup playing the Time or Darkness versions of Mystery Dungeons and pick a Chimchar as your partner. One thing that really amused me was the view of what Charm/Attract looks like from a Pokemon’s eyes. I will never look at Gabite the same way again.

(The code for the Labyrinth Cave mission just like in the special is 78SR **** **** **** **** ****.)

Shiny shiny shiny~ <3

Filed under: Uncategorized — Erika @ 10:48 PM

I’ve always loved the silver Nintendo DS I got from my uncle for Christmas. (Metroid Prime Hunters bundle.) The lid got scratched, the stylus got lost several times, the screen protector came off, and it became very well-loved.

And then when we went over to the States, they gave us their blue one! It was revealed that they were giving it up because they had several more and the cartridge slot was broken. My other uncle managed to fix it and now no one has to break their nails trying to switch DS games. : D

Fast-forwardinging to the present, we had ice cream and yogurt today! : D Sounds suspiciously ordinary, right? But there’s a toy store near that ice cream place. “Ah,”, you say. “Something important’s gonna happen.”

Well, while the ice cream was being eaten, I suddenly remembered the video game section at the store. We went over to check if they still had the DS Lite, as a number of other stores (darn you Toy Kingdom!) took them all out in favor of the DSi. The DSi suddenly got a whole lot less appealing when I found out that the game format is different and the GBA slot was removed, especially if you’ve even seen how many GBA games we have. Shudder.

Anyways, when we did check it out, the first thing I noticed was the box for the Dialga/Palkia DS Lite. Normally, the stores here only have the usual colors, never LEs. We asked if we could get a looksee, but the salesguy said it was totally sealed. My mom asked if you could pay in installments, which definitely surprised me as we were just looking. When he said no, they didn’t, we had an audible “How about another store?” conversation, and he let me test out a demo one to keep me from going away. I had already borrowed friends’s DS Lites before but the only things I noticed were the fact that the stylus was at the side and the mic was between the top screen and touch screen.

Anyways, after some more Nintendospeak, my wonderful mother asked to buy it! You can’t imagine the shock. <3 It’s the beeeeest birthday gift eveeeeeeer! : D

You can see the shiny sparkly glittery decal of the lovely lovely Dialga and Palkia, two of the legendary Pokemon for Generation IV. Giratina ended up getting his own DS lite.

It also came with the charger, an extra stylus, a carrying pouch and a little Pokespecial episode! It centers around Chimchar, apparently, so  haven’t watched it yet.

This is the boxart. At least we were at a restaurant when we opened the box. The handles of forks are handy in situations like these. : D (This is why he couldn’t open the box for us at the store.)

If you’d like to see just how awesome the DSL is compared to the original, click here, here and here. Video reviews are not made by me.

PotatoPromptAt least telling my computer to “potato” didn’t do anything weird. : P

I’m not taking any chances entering words like “break” or “explode” though. O:

It’s the government-sponsored Carrot Containment System! Sure to keep all your carrots nice and cozy for harvesting season.

IMG_1057

The more paranoid perfectly aware parts of the Philippine government developed the final version of the Carrot Containment system as a variation of the Ponchocape. Reports have confirmed that it is indeed a collaboration with designer Erika Alcasid and fashion model Venti LaBunBuns.

With carrot and berry:

Now with a protective tie to prevent those embarassing  “Oops, ah, my carrot fell again” moments (everyone knows they’re inevitable):

By taking part in the development of the government-sponsored Carrot Containment System, you are supporting the agricultural development of our country.

The crocheted carrot and berry are made from patterns from Elisabeth Doherty’s Amigurumi!: Super Happy Crochet Cute. <3

They’re made from Lily’s Sugar N Cream Rainbow Bright and Over the Rainbow, respectively. I used rainbow-colored yarn because I don’t have any solid colors left. :/ Sorry for the bad pictures. I took a picture of the berry, too, but it was a more particularly bad picture than all the rest. : P

Here’s a picture of my sister watching… something.

I present to you: the Venti LaBunBuns Ponchocape!

Venti LaBunBuns poncho cape modeled by Venti LaBunBuns.

That is one stylish rabbit. :P

I was originally making this, but I ran out of yarn and ended up making a poncho for my undoubtedly stylish stuffed rabbit, Venti LaBunBuns.

The awesome local yarn shop moved though. :(
