I’ve always loved the silver Nintendo DS I got from my uncle for Christmas. (Metroid Prime Hunters bundle.) The lid got scratched, the stylus got lost several times, the screen protector came off, and it became very well-loved.
And then when we went over to the States, they gave us their blue one! It was revealed that they were giving it up because they had several more and the cartridge slot was broken. My other uncle managed to fix it and now no one has to break their nails trying to switch DS games. : D
Fast-forwardinging to the present, we had ice cream and yogurt today! : D Sounds suspiciously ordinary, right? But there’s a toy store near that ice cream place. “Ah,”, you say. “Something important’s gonna happen.”
Well, while the ice cream was being eaten, I suddenly remembered the video game section at the store. We went over to check if they still had the DS Lite, as a number of other stores (darn you Toy Kingdom!) took them all out in favor of the DSi. The DSi suddenly got a whole lot less appealing when I found out that the game format is different and the GBA slot was removed, especially if you’ve even seen how many GBA games we have. Shudder.
Anyways, when we did check it out, the first thing I noticed was the box for the Dialga/Palkia DS Lite. Normally, the stores here only have the usual colors, never LEs. We asked if we could get a looksee, but the salesguy said it was totally sealed. My mom asked if you could pay in installments, which definitely surprised me as we were just looking. When he said no, they didn’t, we had an audible “How about another store?” conversation, and he let me test out a demo one to keep me from going away. I had already borrowed friends’s DS Lites before but the only things I noticed were the fact that the stylus was at the side and the mic was between the top screen and touch screen.
Anyways, after some more Nintendospeak, my wonderful mother asked to buy it! You can’t imagine the shock. <3 It’s the beeeeest birthday gift eveeeeeeer! : D

You can see the shiny sparkly glittery decal of the lovely lovely Dialga and Palkia, two of the legendary Pokemon for Generation IV. Giratina ended up getting his own DS lite.
It also came with the charger, an extra stylus, a carrying pouch and a little Pokespecial episode! It centers around Chimchar, apparently, so haven’t watched it yet.
This is the boxart. At least we were at a restaurant when we opened the box. The handles of forks are handy in situations like these. : D (This is why he couldn’t open the box for us at the store.)
